Back at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex for development camp this morning. I'll have updates below, to be read from the bottom up
► FOLLOW ALONG
• Mikhail Ilyin is in the building. Speaks no English, so they have a translator for him. He’ll be meeting with the media shortly.
• Mikhail Ilyn update: He's landed in Newark last night, but his flight from Newark to Pittsburgh was canceled, so they got him a car service to drive him from Newark to here. He got into Pittsburgh late last night/early in the morning, so they aren't having him skate today.
• Everyone needs to see the jersey combo in front of me:
TAYLOR HAASE / DKPS
• A refresher on the teams, with today's order being Team Patrick, Team Johnston, Team Stevens. Same format as yesterday, skating on the first rink then skills on the second rink.
• A note that this isn't an evaluation camp, the team doesn't see it that way, the players know it isn't that, and the vast majority of what they do here isn't exactly anything in which a guy would "stand out." The tournament at the end would be better for that, but they still don't treat those like real games. The "standouts" somehow often end up being some undrafted invite who never plays a game of pro hockey. Just how these things are.
• Still no changes to the injured guys on the ice -- Zam Plante (upper-body), Max Graham (knee surgery), Luke Devlin (ankle).
